Golden Globes 2009

Now I only saw 1 hr. of the Globes because I watched the long anticipated "24". But I will say a few things. Renee Zellwegger (that dress and hair was not good), Drew Barrymore (you are living in your own world-what were you laughing at when Spielberg was talking?) and winners (stop thanking everyone under the sun from hairdressers to the people who deliver your mail). Also, I hear Mickey Rourke's acting was really good in The Wrestler but is it really better than Leonardo DiCaprio's in Revolutionary Road? Can this guy ever win? I think he's due for an Oscar. Also, did anyone catch The Wrestler's director flip off Mickey Rourke? NBC was wishing the delay should have been used I bet...

Jason Varitek

All I will say is that the Red Sox better not rush to make a deal with this guy because I think they should make Scott Boras (the most evil man on earth) sweat it out. Either they take what the Red Sox orginally offered to Varitek or he goes to another team. Yes, right now the Sox don't have a catcher with the signing of Kevin Cash to the Yankees but we do have good farm development so maybe bring a guy up and get an average catcher that is still out there. Varitek needs either to relearn how to hit or go to an off season hitting clinic. He is a guaranteed strikeout or pop up 75% of the time. Total rally killer! I will say this though, the Red Sox really are developing some great talent from their farm teams unlike the Yankees who are just spending millions of dollars on superstars. Let's see in April when the season really counts. I can't wait!

Burn After Reading review & more

First off, I saw Burn After Reading last night and it was really funny. I was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews, which I usually pay no attention to, but thought this time they might be right. I do have to say it started off slow and strange. I turned tomy friend and said, "Hope this gets better". And it did, once Brad Pitt & Frances McDormand entered the picture, the movie really kicked in. I won't give anything away but just say, if you want to laugh, check this movie out.
Also, will you insane NFL fans give the referee Ed Hochili a break? Yeah he made a mistake, a blown call. Did he murder someone? Did he steal your money? (Well, I guess yes if you bet on the game). Do you want this guy to commit suicide? I mean after reading certain sports stories, it sounds like this guy is really devastated. I'm sure there will be those certain fans, you know the ones, their faces are painted in team colors, wearing stupid outfits that resemble their favorite teams mascots...that will be heckling this guy until he needs to go see someone for his anxiety & nerve problems. Give the guy a break! Besides San Diego sucks anyway, do you really think that Ed Hochili lost the game for them? Get real!

Wow! It's been a while!

I haven't been writing about anything lately just because it seems like i've been so busy and the summer is flying by. I do have a another place to report on bad customer service: Cavilieri's Bakery & Pizza in Bristol, RI. I will follow up in the next blog about that experience.
Looking forward to watching the US Open Women's Final match tonight between Serena Williams & Jelena Jankovic. Anytime a Williams' is in the final, you can usually guarnatee a win but Jankovic is really good.... Also, the men's match on Monday will be exciting to even though as of right now we do not know who is the finals. It stinks for those fans who plan to go on the weekend and may not be able to now cause of the Monday night rescheduling. I know what it's like to experience a rain delay/cancellation at the US Open. I think it's rained almost every time I've attended.
Also, my makeup rain out of the Boston Red Sox is next Saturday, Sept. 13th. If it rains again, I'll be pissed. The weather already looks crappy but that can change hopefully. I had a cool experience last time we went to the Red Sox in August. My friend and I met Justin Masterson's wife on the train into Boston. She was very nice and helped our clueless selves off the train and on the subway.
Well, looking forward to watching Fringe on Fox, Tuesday at 9pm?. Hope it doesn't disappoint! As for disappointments, 90210 was bad. I am not watching it again. Where's the geeky character David, the idiot Donna, the surfer dude Dylan? I think I will cherish the original guilty pleasure and leave it at that.

What's up with NBC's Jillian Michaels?

If anyone saw NBC's The Biggest Loser: Couples edition last night, they would have saw a pissed off Jillian let the F-bombs fly at host Allison Sweeney? I was really hoping for an appearance of Sweeneys' DAYS character Sami Brady to confront her but instead we got a seemingly shocked & speechless Sweeney trying to avoid a big confrontation. Let me start off by saying, I can't really stand Jillian. She's in your face annoying to the point i feel like kickboxing the TV screen sometimes. On last night's show, her "black team" had lost another member and he was sent home. The team was depressed and had come to the realization that they can't really drop as much weight as the men on the 'blue team". So Brittany (Jillian's pal), Maggie (Miss Sarcastic) and Kelly (i am going to try to cry on every episode) were all sad during the weigh in. And not to mention the fact they brought back 2 kicked off players, one who they already couldn't stand from the blue team and Ally, who had been kicked off earlier but looks so good, you can already see those lines in her stomach that every woman wants and strives for. As the host, Sweeney tends to ask obvious & sometimes annoying questions about things that happened in the house during the week which she probably has watched or watches on a camera somewhere. This week she asked Brittany if she wanted to go home because she gave an answer how ' it's not possible to lose as much weight as the men because their metabolism is different.' So Jillian butts in and says "Why don't you leave her the F*$% alone, and then added a few choices words that were bleeped out by NBC. Some people might say, Jillian's team member was getting asked some harder questions and she defended her. I say, Brittany everyone is there for a reason and that's to lose weight. You look great already but stop the 'it's all about me whining' It's very sickening. As for Jillian, someone should kick her ass. I'm hoping it will be Allison Sweeney but I would prefer Sami Brady.

Pete Sampras still has it

Watched the Pete Sampras/Roger Federer match last night. It was sold out at Madison Square garden but I watched it from the Jane Pickens Theater in Newport, RI. It was sponsored by the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport as well. Lots of people went. They even had good old liquor to loosen you up. (None for me thanks) As I was looking around the theater I thought i might have been the youngest one there but alas the younger crowd finally made there way in. People were cheering along with the crowd at the Garden but some people i think thought that Sampras or Federer could actually hear them the way they were carrying on in the theater. The ticket said 7 pm so my friend and I get there right before then and had to sit through 2 showings of the Golden Anniversary of the Tennis Hall of Fame induction & gala at the Breakers. Seeing Bud Collins once is enough. The guy a few seats down from me kept yelling, "play tennis" I'm not sure if he realized he was yelling at the Tennis Channel or he actually thought he was in the Garden. Needeless to say, the match was great and Sampras can still play. Federer lost his way in the 3rd set and almost lost the match but his ability to serve aces when he's down and crawl back out of trouble is so amazing. Even though i was hoping for Pete to win, deep down I thought Roger would pull it off and he did. I hope Sampras keeps playing till he can no longer stand.

American Flag pins

I just have to know why the NFL announcers are wearing American flag pins? To me it's disingenuous. It's enough already. Wear the pin because you want to not because CBS or Fox is telling you you have to.

Roger Clemens

Do i believe him? Hmmmmmmm. I must let you know that I am biased here because i have disliked him ever since he left the Red Sox for more money and went to Toronto. But if we are to believe Roger from his comments last night, he said he didn't play baseball for the money. Isn't that why he decided not to play for the Red Sox this year as well because the Yankees offered him more money? Please Roger don't let us think you are that caring about the sport of baseball otherwise you wouldn't have taken steroids when your body was pretty much done in 1995 then WOW you became amazing again. Congratulations to the New England Patriots on going a perfect 16-0 during the regular season. I was having bouts of anxiety attacks when they were down by 12 points. It's not as nerve wracking as watching a Red Sox game but it was close. And to my very favorite player: Kevin Faulk #33. What would this team do without you? His character is just like that of Troy Brown, #80, unselfish & willing to do whatever to help his team. Go Pats on to the Superbowl!

NBC'S Clash Of The Choirs is a terrible show!

Now some people might say, wait a second, the singing on there is really good, why don't you like it? It's not that that I don't think the singing is good or the people aren't talented, basically it's "what is the point of the show"? You have 5 choirs that come together with random people from each of the choir celebrity leaders hometowns and then they compete against each other. When i heard that they were being judged, I thought "Hmmm I wonder who the judges will be?" Well it's all the other choir leaders? I mean this is so stupid. They get up on stage and sing and then are judged by the other people who will then have to direct their choirs? And then the viewers at home vote? Haven't we seen this before? There are too many shows where the viewer is voting at home! This is soooo stupid!! And the answers the judges give. Patti Labelle: Oh you were fantastic. Michael Bolton: You were just fantastic! Kelly Rowland: You guys were fantastic. Do we see a pattern here? BORING!!! I really haven't watched much tv since the writers' strike and this show doesn't help any. I really can't wait for Lost! Until then I will be watching my DVD's of The Office & Curb your Enthusiasm.

Bad Customer Service List

So i decide to keep track of all the terrible customer service i receive because i'm sick and tried of being ignored while peole are waiting on me. yes, I am going to list the name of the company and i wil list the town it is in. So if you happen to see your company one day on here, you better straighten up your act. Basically , you need an improvement in your training services or you are probably hiring a bunch of idiots. Now this company probably tops my list in the worst customer service i had in a while. This happened last year: Olympia Sports: Middletown, RI. Long story short, I was with my mom at the coutner ready to check out when our counter girl was on the phone. We were waiting there to pay for our merchandise when she continued to keep talking about "her boyfriend that she went out with last night" -oh yes it was one of those customer service people. Anyway, my mom started to click her tongue and sigh deeper, hoping the attention of the teenaged girl would spark, however the conversation grew deeper. "Um really, can you believe he didn't call me? Like yeah, i mean like can you believe it? Well, that may be exaggerating but i'm sure the word "Like" was used more than 6 tmes in that sentence. Anyway, probably after my mom saying 3 times she was going to say something to her (and i know my mom, she never would have but saying makes you feel better) this kid ran up so fast , we didn't even see him coming to check us out. He apologized for the wai but never said anything to the girl. So after several conversations in the car about how rude this girl was, i decide to shoot off a letter to Olympia Sports Corporate about the experience. Almost immediately, i received a reply about how their employees are not trained like this and this situation will be rectified and for the inconvenience of the experience, she'll be sending us a gift car. Yeah, I got a $20 gift card for bad customer service. No, I wouldn't want free gift cards all the time but i pays to complain. Next victim: Victoria's Secret, North Dartmouth, Mall, Massachusetts.

Pushing Daisies is as good as it gets!

Pushing Daisies is exactly what the critcis have said all summer long. The best new show on TV. Don't tell me that Private Practice is the highest rated new show because what I saw was completely unwatchable. How can Kate Walsh's character become a complete idiot when she is playing the same person? Well, Daisies is refreshing, quirky, romantic and old fashioned all rolled into one. You want to know about each character more and more. I keep hoping if maybe Ned accidently touches Chuck then by some miracle maybe she won't die. But yeah that's not going to happen. And how could you not think that Olive's character wasn't going to break into song because you can't keep a voice like that quiet. And Chi McBride's character is sort of dopey in a keystone cop/law & order mix sort of way. Anyway, the show is great and hoepfully it won't become predictable anytime soon. Love the guy who does the narration too!!

Well, I hadn't posted in a while because I actually couldn't remember what my password was. Nevertheless, I am back. Not that anyone is reading. However, let me start out by congratulating my Boston Red Sox. They have made it to the ALCS and will play The Cleveland Indians on Friday. Go Red Sox!! But let me give a word of advice to Manny Ramirez. If you hit a homerun (and of course I hope you do) please don't stand there and watch the damn ball fly through the air, just run around the bases.
So what's big in the news right now, not much really. Sick of hearing about Britney pears, Paris Hilton... Yeah... I thought Paris Hilton said she was going to plan to have kids within the next year? And get married? Good luck to that person...By the way Paris, lovely dancing on the tables at your sister's birthday party. So you're the reason why they say "white people" can't dance.

The Brady Bunch songs

You know you are pretty pathetic when a song from the Brady Bunch comes on and you know all the words. I am talking about me. I'm sitting at my computer right now and listening to various songs the Brady Bunch sang during their 5 seasons on TV. Does anyone remember the classic, "Good Time Music"? or "We can Make the World a Whole Lot Brighter". Oh god, why do I remember them, that should be the question? But the real classic is the guest appearance of Davy Jones and his stupid song, "Girl"! Those first words.. "Girl, look what you've done to me, me and my whole world". I'm not writing the rest cause I'm too busy singing. I need to go now cause I'm about to get to the end, "thank you girl, for making the morning brighter, Girl for making the night time nicer!" Oh no, someone please help me!

Politics & Friends Don't Mix!!

Have you ever got in a conversation with a friend and it started to turn ugly over something ridiculous like politics? That is definitely a no win situation. Especially if you get into it with a family member. Listen, I think everyone has probably seen the clips of The View, the argument between Elisabeth & Rosie. All I can say is with two strong minded individuals going at it like that, there is no way either of them will listen to each other. Life is too short, let's move on ladies!

Kids. Music. Beyond Bad!!

So i do a little deejaying on the side and i have played for several dances at the school where my mom works. So sometimes the kids give me lists of songs that they want to hear. Sometimes it's a good dance where alot of the kids will dance and sometimes it's mostly the girls. It's 6th, 7th & 8th grade. They also slow dance like robots (it's pretty funny to watch). Anyway, I played this song, "Chain Hang Low by Jibbs. (He's a young rapper maybe 16 yrs.) The kids screamed like they just met Shaun Cassidy. (Oh wait, that's who I would've screamed for) so anyway they begin to sing the little rap on top of their lungs. It's a catchy tune, "May your chain hang low, let it wobble to the flo', does it shine in the light, is it platinum or gold" to a familiar tune. blah blah blah...They kept coming up to me and saying, can you play all these sexual type of songs. Did i mention this was a Catholic school as well? This week the big requester is, "This is the Way I Live" by Baby Boy da Prince. Oh my god. This song absolutely sucks! It's probably one of the worst songs I have ever heard. The guy sounds like he's barely opening his mouth. But yes I will play it because I found a clean version on the internet. I am always weary of playing the clean version of songs as well. You always can hear a little bit of whatever was supposed to be cut out. I always tell my freinds that a bunch of us should get together and put out a song. Almost anyone these days is cutting a record. There are so many untalented singers making songs that kids become immune to how terrible the music actually is. Thank god for people like Jack Johnson, Ben Folds and Guster. I love you and I always will. You guys are my savior! If I am having a bad day, I turn you on and remember the good times. Of course I love other music but that would be way too many to mention. But you 3 are my true faves. Thank you for being there!

Soldiers Missing

So on the news one of the soldiers missing from Iraq that has been captured by Al-Queda is from next door Massachusetts. I pray for him and his family. The Al-Queda are evil and don't show mercy and there isn't any negotiating with terrorists no matter what some people in the media think. They hate America and everything we stand for. I just wish we would leave Iraq and the Iraqi Army could defend themselves. And I also heard the story about how American soldiers still have proper equipment over there. I think i had heard that about 3 yrs. ago and they still dont have the right equipment? Come on Government! What the hell is wrong with you?

Smallville

Season Finale night. Smallville was so good. Is Lana really dead? Probably not because she's in the comic books. Is Chloe really dead? Just might because she's a made-up character but i hope not. I love how there are 2 Clark's but he also reminds of Clark on Red Kryptonite. Hmmm. Can't wait for next season!!!

Paris Hilton Going To Jail

Although I don't believe she should actually be in jail, I am not broken hearted about it either. I would never sign a petition saying she provides "beauty and fashion" to the world. what the hell is that? But i do think some people walk around this earth thinking they are better than everyone else. No one can be that ignorant? Or can they? The average American does not get special treatment for traffic violations especially DUI, so why should someone of affluence benefit from the same fate? Maybe this is a wake-up call or maybe another chapter in a forthcoming book...

Tyra Banks and my rambles

Ok, this is not a mean post cause I actually like Tyra (sometimes). I look at her and think wow she does a lot of great things for people and seems like she is a really nice person BUT... the way she is on that talk show is sooooo over the top. Woke up wednesday morning at 2:00am and the tv was on and Tyra's show was on. The topic was transgender people who date and their significant others were on. Her facial expressions and reactions are just annoying to me. Who knows? And of course I watch the model show just to make fun of it, of ocurse. But i really want that Natasha to win. And could someone tel those girls that not everyone wears a wedding ring? They base Natasha's marriage being fake by not wearing a wedding ring? Tell that Meredith Viera fromt he Today Show who doesn't wear one as well. I'm just rambling now. Must get ready for work....

American Idol & other things on TV

So last night LaKisha got the boot. I can't say I'm surprised because she's been building this momentum of bad performances intertwined with a few good ones. She was one of my favorites but now they are down to the final 3. I actually voted this week for the first time this year. I got through 3 times for Jordin. I really hope she wins because Melinda, being the professional singer that she is, doesn't really need the win in my opinion. Blake he's all set with his beat boxing thing happening. And i'm sure Paula Abdul will do anything to help him out (wink, wink) Hey, she practically jumps out of her skin when she's performing and gives him great comments when he clearly sucks! Blake, you should have never have cut that hair. Much cuter before. Oh well and can we talk about Lost for minute? Please tell me that John Locke isn't going to die because he is one of the most interesting characters on that show! And what is with the invisible Jacob character? We only have 2 more shows to figure that one out until January.

Now I now there are tons of Lost fans out there? But where have you been this season? Maybe you are 'Lost" (hahaha) As I read the reviews on various sites, it says the fans have gone away mostly due to last year's crappy season and now the recent time change due to the American Idol ratings (we'll discuss that show some time soon). I have to tell you, I think this season is pretty good. I just wish they would show some of the other characters. Now where is Rose & Bernard? Are they off gathering food? Is Rose still cancer free? Maybe those are the two that they will kill off? No one seems to mind that they are gone anyway. Where's the French woman? Should Sayid and her hook-up? Too many questions and so little time till the end of this season. I hope the finale is good because I keep reading it will be really great. Let's hope so!!
